The Planning Department is engaged in the processing and approval of building and subdivision applications, change of use applications, applications for billboards and advertisement signs, alterations to buildings, enforcement as it relates to illegal buildings among others. This department, on behalf of the Council, spearheads development control strategies. This is the process by which the Council exercises its statutory duty to control all in accordance with their development plans and structure plans. It requires all developers to seek planning permission for new development, monitoring development by serving enforcement/stop notice and ensuring compliance to the Manchester Confirmed Development Order.
