Approximately twenty-eight (28) employees at the Manchester Parish Council participated in an in-house Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) training conducted by Mrs. Camille Beckford-Palmer, Regional Coordinator in the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), Disaster Management Unit on Monday, June 13, 2016.
This training is in an effort to increase the efficiency and performance of our Parish Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC). It is important at this time that we make the necessary preparation and planning to enhance the capacity of the Council to respond in times of emergency.
The following areas were covered:
- The role of the PEOC in Emergency Management
- Key response agencies in the PEOC
- Designing the PEOC
- Managing the PEOC
- Operating the PEOC
The Parish Emergency Operation Centre (PEOC) is the hub of operations for coordinating emergency response at the parish level. It is where the multi-agency representatives come together to pool knowledge, skills and ideas to respond to the emergency needs of the communities in the parish.
Members of the Council’s Parish Disaster, Planning & Management Committee are set to benefit from similar training.
