Follow Norman Manley’s example, says Gloudon

Those who make the annual July 4 pilgrimage to Roxborough, central Manchester, to celebrate the birth of Norman Washington Manley have heard many a speech about the national hero.
Last Monday, they heard one that was strikingly different from the norm.

Using an informal mix of humorous anecdotes, sober reflections and earnest exhortations, journalist and playwright Barbara Gloudon argued that just as Manley gave of himself to his country, so Jamaicans must selflessly work for a better society.
